In Hallingdal’s geographical navel, businesses from all over the country gather

It has not always been this way. This place has gone from being a gathering spot for Norwegians in green (the Home Guard) – to a local emergency preparedness centre run by the municipality – to a centre for sustainability, innovation and preparedness, with private owners.

It has not always been this way. This place has gone from being a gathering spot for Norwegians in green (the Home Guard) – to a local emergency preparedness centre run by the municipality – to a centre for sustainability, innovation and preparedness, with private owners.

Hallingcast has been part of the journey and responsible for the brand building – a wide range of marketing services – ever since 2007. In this article we share some experiences, as inspiration for how we can help your business and cover some of the same needs.

Torpomoen

We are of course talking about Torpomoen. When we were first introduced to the business and the place, it was a fairly typical «case» with a general manager and an administrator who wanted a bit of help with the website.

In 2008, Torpomoen got new owners. Owners who saw the potential of the place. Owners who had (and still have) ambitions for the future.

The value of buying locally

The first assignment from the owner company was to remove the «Home Guard stamp» and create a new logo. That kicked off a thorough process of identity building and brand work.

We – under the name Utforming Medhus ENK, as we were called back then – were in the loop from day one, because we ran the company’s website and had already improved and revised it over several years when the new profile was to be created.

An outside agency was hired for a preliminary identity project.

I do not remember all the details, but at some point the owners put their foot down with the communications agency, when the price tag turned out to be somewhere in the middle of a six-figure sum – and still might not hit the mark.

Hallingcast is the choice for you if you feel a certain unease about involving bigger agencies that resort to drawn-out, costly processes without the end product getting any better.

We kept the process short and created a lasting, sustainable identity. The value of a strong visual identity really cannot be overstated. Not least, we solved the tasks at a tenth of the cost compared with the outside agency.

A broad range of marketing services

To make a long story (2007 to 2023) short: we have delivered all visible marketing material across Torpomoen’s many fields of operation. To sum up: visual identity (logo and brand manual), websites, advertising, print (signage, ads, trade fair equipment, flags, wrapping, decor etc.), decoration, photography and film production.

Towards the end of 2022 and into 2023, when the Hallingdal innovation and sustainability centre was about to open, we also got to add what for us is the icing on the cake: fitting out the offices for Torpomoen’s other focus areas – sustainability and innovation. Reodor Felgen’s workshop became the seed of Hallingcast AS, which you can read about here.

We are grateful for the trust, and close with a photo series and a film we made for Hallingdal brann- og redningsteneste IKS and Torpomoen Utvikling AS. All photos: Anders Medhus.

In the Hallingdal innovation and sustainability centre it should of course be possible to say something about “innovation prospects for Hallingdal”. We made a metal board with magnetic symbols. See also the film at the bottom of the article.Photo: Anders Medhus / Hallingcast AS
